Body needs

– In order for the average human being to maintain their weight: – Males require 2200 – 2400 calories – Females require 1800 – 2000 calories – All the numbers above are averages, and in order for you to know what works for you and how you can lose or maintain a healthy weight, you should consult with a dietitian

Calories and fat in "gulf gathering"

Taking all the above into consideration, following is an estimation for what a “gulf gathering” entails in terms of calories and fat:

  • One handful of “kabsa” rice contains 50 calories
  • One handful of meat contains 2.3g worth of fat
    This means that 20 handfuls of rice, 10 of which contain meat amounts to around 1100 calories, which constitutes half of the daily calorie intake.

Note: the numbers above do not take into consideration the added fat to the rice, desserts, and date and nuts served with coffee and tea before dinner.

Result

If you don’t control what you eat in these gatherings, you could easily end up exceeding your daily intake of calories and fat in one meal.
