Salamatak – Losing weight

Practice Makes Perfect

Consider growing a tree that you could plant, harvest, and eat its fruits within 24 hours.

You must be thinking “this is impossible!”

Your reaction is 100% justified as it is correct and logical. The same goes for our bodies, whether we are trying to lose weight or gain it, nothing ever comes that easy. Even with surgeries as an option for losing weight, they do present a plethora of side effects. However, they may be more suitable for some more than others.

Do you want to lose weight? Follow these tips!

  • Drink enough water daily, especially half an hour before meals
  • Ensure that your breakfast is high in protein such as “eggs, beans, lentils … etc.” for their nutritional benefit and the feeling of satiety they give for a longer period
  • Understand the correct portions sizes that are suitable for you, which consist of vegetables, fruits, dairy products, meat, poultry, and others.
  • Make your diet routine flexible, and appropriate for your lifestyle to help you adhere to it
  • Avoid measuring your weight on a daily basis to avoid frustration
  • Avoid using weight loss pills, as the risks are greater than the benefits, especially since your target can be achieved with time and patience
  • When you feel hungry between meals, snack on vegetables and fruits as they have lower calories and high nutritional benefits
  • Reaching your target weight is great but keeping the weight off is even greater

Here are some facts about "weight gain"

  • Over one billion people are overweight, and nearly 300 million are obese
  • A study conducted by the World Health Organization indicates that the death cases caused by obesity reaches 2.8 million people annually
  • Studies show that caffeine found in coffee without any additives increases the rate of fat burning by up to 15% – 29%
  • When you gain weight, your body produces hormones such as insulin, which increases your storage of fat and also your desire to eat more foods
  • Studies show that global obesity rates for children are ten times higher than they were in the 1970s

How Do You Prevent Weight Gain?

  • Create a healthy lifestyle and adhere to it.

Assess your hunger waves. As soon as you get the desire to eat, assess the extent of your hunger whether it is real or deceptive. Your body should tell you how big or small your portion should be based on your hunger levels.

Create an exercise routine and adhere to it. For example, make it a habit to dedicate 30 minutes per day to exercise. After a while, you will notice your body’s ability to exercise for a longer time as you build your resistance.

Manage your weight and do not neglect yourself.

Avoid all forms of emotional eating. Some people resort to eating simply because they feel sad, happy, or bored.
